Fred Basset

Fred Basset is, as the name suggests, a basset dog.  He lives in the suburbs of a major English city.  But he is not just any dog.  He is a thinking dog, sarcastic and criticising.

From a dog’s perspective, Fred Bassett reflects on his owners’ often weird behaviour.  At the same time, he is a real dog.

When the cartoonist Alex Graham created Fred Basset for English Daily Mail in 1963, they didn’t think he was sufficiently skilled when it came to drawing dogs so the paper bought him a basset.  Ever since, no one has had any reason to complain on either Fred or his behaviour.
