Beetle Bailey's creator celebrates his 90th birthday

Mort Walker, the creator of the eternal Army private Beetle Bailey, turned 90 years old on September 3 and reportedly received birthday wishes and pats on the back from Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Martin Dempsey, Connecticut Gov. Dannel P. Malloy, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Dolly Parton and even Prince Albert II of Monaco.

Three years ago, Walker — who served in the Army during World War II — vowed that he would continue drawing the strip until he wasn't able to keep going.
